Summer 2003
Gold Coast Gossip is jam packed full of great stories
and features from the Gold Coast and around Australia.
The Bali bombings were a devastating reminder of
the atrocity of terrorism. The story of Gold Coaster
Jake Ryan who became a local, national and international
symbol of the bombings is a tale of triumph.
We have a rugby World Cup flavour with our story
on commentator David Fordham. His fight with leukaemia
and his eventual bone marrow transplant to come back
and call the World Cup is inspiring.

We have kept to our developing tradition of bringing you
the best of Australia's celebrities. Following on from the
Logies in our last edition, we have brought you the red carpet
action from the Music Industry ARIA's. It was truly Delta
Goodrem's night, as she swept the awards with seven Aria's
and she graces our front cover.
The Gold Coast Indy fun and frivolity which transforms central
Surfers Paradise for four days every year is featured, along
with Queensland Fashion Week on the Gold Coast which is a
great reminder of the work of our local designers with some
funky fashion ideas for the warmer moths.
We have also taken advantage of our high quality full colour
format with all the colour from the Gold Coast City Council
garden competition. The drought has been devastating for
gardeners but these winning gardeners show that it is possible
to produce beautiful gardens and be water-wise at the same
time.

Winter 2003
The response to our stories about Gold Coast people
in the first edition of Gold Coast Gossip was overwhelming.
In our second edition we have more great stories
about real people and their lives.
We unmask the SeaFM Morning Crew and get the low
down on Gold Coast real estate trends with councillor
and real estate guru Max Christmas.
We trace the successful AFL playing career of Brisbane
Lion Marcus Ashcroft which had its beginnings on
the Gold Coast.

In a television celebrity feast this edition has an eight
page pictorial of anyone who is anyone in Australian television.
Gold Coast Gossip was at Crown Casino for the TV Week Logie
Awards to capture all the stars as they paraded down the
red carpet.
In a unique look at fashion of the future, we feature the
brilliant student designs from KVB Institute of Technology.
In a slick fashion show, the final year work of the students
was paraded to the fashion industry. Palazzo Versace formed
a perfect backdrop for this classy show.
The story of Gold Coast youth Lynton Bassett is a must read
for anyone who despairs for the future of our youth. Lynton's
story of overcoming his unfortunate upbringing is inspirational.
Also inspirational is the plight of Gold Coast woman Dianne.
She chose to expose her fight with post natal depression
to help others. It is an honest outpouring of a woman's heartache
and overwhelming love for her child.

Autumn
2003
Gold Coast Gossip produced its first edition in
Autumn 2003.
The new quarterly lifestyle magazine for the Gold
Coast was aimed at telling the stories about Gold
Coast people.
Editor Vincene Wilson introduced the first magazine
quoting her experiences of meeting a great number
of people with great stories to tell.
"Although the Gold Coast is growing at a tremendous
rate and the landscape is changing with the injection
of technology and new people, there is a great sense
of pride in the community in what Gold Coast residents
have achieved," she said.

The Gold Coast is known around the world as one of the great
holiday playgrounds but it is the people that make it tick.
In a way, the country town mentality where people are interested
in a local person who has done well or has achieved something
out of the ordinary is still with us.
New magazines like new babies develop
their own personalities and Gold Coast Gossip has a style
from which to build into
the Gold Coast's own magazine
about real people in a special environment.
Gold Coast Gossip took an insider's look at channel
9 television program Who Wants to be a Millionaire, a beauty
queen revealed how politics took on a pivotal role in the
2003 Miss World Contest and we interacted with Sea World's
famous polar bears.
The first edition established a tradition of great fashion
features and feature stories on local people including
author Jennifer Bacia and performers such as Toni Janke,
Lace Malloch
and Tenielle Stoltenkamp.
Coastwatch legend Ken Brown featured and some four legged
movie stars showed the humourous side of working with animals.
Gold Coast Gossip’s number 1 edition was a jam packed
magazine supported by advertising from many and varied Gold
Coast businesses.
